ISO 45001:2018 is an International Standard specifies the requirements of an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, & this standard is developed to proactively improve organizations OH&S performance in preventing injury and ill-health and this international Standard based on the OHSAS 18001, conventions and guidelines of the International Labour Organization including ILO OSH 2001, and national standards. This international Standard Occupational Health and safety management system follows the High Level Structure of other ISO standards & that standard makes integration of these standards much easier.
History: The first Draft for ISO 45001 standards was rejected in May 2016 & Then Next in July 2017 the second draft version of ISO 45001 was accepted. In September 2017, the international standards committee will evaluate the results of the ballot and the comments and decide on this basis whether a final draft is required or whether the standard will be published in 2017 & Then Final Draft will be produced and that the standard will be published in March 2018.
Annex SL or Annex
L: Now Annex SL is Renamed as Annex
L 2019 edition and the vision behind
this to change that is to enhance the consistency and alignment of MSS by
providing a unifying and agreed upon high level structure, identical core text
and common terms and core definitions.
ISO 45001 will be using the Annex SL process and structure, easing the use and integration of multiple ISO management system standards by a single organization & some of the major differences changes in ISO 45001 are an increased focus on the context of an organization and a stronger role for the top management and leadership.
Type of organization can Implement ISO 45001 Standard: This ISO Standard can applicable to all types of organizations no matter of their size, nature or geography. OHSAS can be implemented in Hospitals, Health Care industry, Steel, Paper or Other Manufacturing Companies, Service Companies, Construction Industry in India.
This
standard has the 10 Clause, but the requirement of the Occupational health and
safety management systems — Requirements are in Clause No 4 to Clause No 10
PDCA CYCLE: ISO 45001 has adopted the four stage
Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle for achieving continual improvement. This is an
inherent part of the systematic approach to determine workable solutions,
assessing the results, and implementing ones that have been shown to work.
On
the 12th March 2018 the new standard ISO 45001 was launched. ISO 45001 is now a
recognized international standard for Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
Management Systems and it will now replace the BS OHSAS 18001 over the next
three years.
